I was also at 10 and few weeks back went and changed to 12. As Tony pointed out I have been wondering about the liquidity issue if at all we were to withdraw early. They take off 30% (20 tax + 10% early termination fee). I do have a bit of company match but will not be enough to cover the 30% loss. I am thinking of cutting back to 5%.
The problem with accounts in India is the requirement to declare it here. Anyway have to quickly call them and get it back to just enough to get the employer match up to the max.

Rvendra, Looks like we are in the same boat.
1)Did you check with the Ombudsman too?
2)I believe that there is a no to call the FBI and verify, Does any body know it and tried it?

I have travelled on an about to expire passport. It US immigration officer was nice and asked to promise him that I would renew my passport as soon as I got home.

I am almost there and expecting green card approval anytime. But now I am having second thoughts now. The desi consulting company I work for had eight people a year ago and two of them now going back (and one more is negotiating) at salaries 20-35 lacs. Has anyone explored Indian job market, if yes then what is hot?

Years ago or should I say ages ago not even in the US of A but at Heathrow at the American Airlines counter (that time I was a student for MS) the lady was going thru my I-20 and was asking for additional documents et al...so I had this bunch of documents in my folder...and her eyes landed on my degree certificate...she asked me you have a degree from IIT and you couldn't get a job still ? that's why you are going for your MS....i was like well I wanted to do research....why not in India? I was like this is not even USA and this is my 2nd visit to USA (after the Christmas break in the 2nd year)....why are they asking so many questions and this is pre-9/11.....
I was like why is she harassing me....Do you have intentions of staying back in the USA after you finish your MS....I said no I plan to do my PhD in the UK...She gave me a ugly look and stamped my passport and let me go....

Hi all,
I have been trying to get an appointment from Hyderabad consulate, AP, India for the past two days on 27th or 28th of May 2009.
When I check the availability, the website shows that 27 thru 29th of May are available for appointments. But after I create and save the application it doesn't take me to the page where I can select the appointment dates. We sent an email to VFS customer support but till now we did not receive any reply.We are two H1bs(myself and my husband) and two H4s(kids).
Did anyone get an appointment successfully ?
The entire process of H1b revalidation itself is a tormenting procedure. On the top of it VFS website is really annoying.Sorry for venting my frustration.
Can anyone please help me out and guide me through the process.

There is a confusion in following statement:
"Secondly, the visa number must be "current" for the new I-140 petition (most likely EB-2) before the I-485 transfer is requested"
I read in some other forums that you do not need to wait for your PD to be current to interfile. Is that true ? My attorney is also saying that we can interfile as soon as we receive the RN. My PD is May 2004.

I talked to my attorney about the security clearance and he said my security clearance is done successfully. basically, FBI will do all that behind the scenes thats what my attorney said, they back check in bio-data since i came into US,
then
only i have received approved I-797 with company Y on Jun 5, 2008.
addition to it, i have a letter (from my attorney) from an expert opinion who is the Professor from University of Maryland on my Education and Work Experience. correct me if this is wrong.
This is not accurate (or you misunderstood your lawyer or your lawyer was referring to something else). I was stuck in Germany for 1.5 months due to security clearance in 2006. Of course I had approved I-797, letters from my Boss, etc. Nothing matters. IO can always request a security clearance (to save his/her a**).

Both of the following are about 500KB, so beforewarned...
I put a smaller beetle macro into the front-page gallery area, but here's a couple others.
1 Upclose and personal with a dandelion.
2. The same lens, used conventionally for a landscape. I printed this out at 19x13 and it's going to get framed.
Nice shots.......... I like the close ups with Macro, and also the landscapes with the old buildings overrun with ivy
